40 Co- Stars Who Had Bad Blood for Each Other

There’s no such thing as a perfect relationship – whether romantic, work, or friendship, there will always be room for misunderstandings. The same goes in the world of Hollywood, where ego is king.

As a drama unfolds, egos clash, and tension can skyrocket, on-screen and behind the scenes. Even our favorite stars get hot-headed from time to time, especially when another celebrity in the cast gets involved. This might not always be the case, but it happens.

As fans of movies and TV shows, we’ve come to expect seamless on-screen performances from our favorite actors and actresses. However, we’re only ever told so much about what happens behind the scenes. Here are 40 celebrities who just can’t get along. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see these stars together on the big screen any time soon.

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn

Who remembers Four Christmases? It’s the 2008 jolly holiday classic we like seeing on our screens about once a year, usually around December. From their on-screen performance, we’d never have guessed that Resse Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn were less than friends.

The media even sensationalized their falling out, including a story that involved Reese declining to show up for an intimate bedroom scene with her co-star, Vince. It‘s been said that their personalities just didn’t match, with Reese taking her work seriously, putting in extra time to prepare for each scene, whereas Vince was more of a go-with-the-flow type of guy.

Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice

These two young celebrities once starred in the famous Nickelodeon kid’s show, Victorious. Now, both of them are in their late 20s, making a big name for themselves in the industry. However, the two co-stars once had a big falling out.

The feud began when Victoria decided to go solo rather than with the Victorious crew on tour, alongside co-star Ariana. This ultimately led to Nickelodeon’s decision to cancel the show. We understand Ari’s side, though. One day you’re living the life you love, and the next, it’s gone – all because of one person’s selfish decision.

Megan Fox and Michael Bay

Megan Fox and Michael Bay worked extensively together in Transformers. It’s rumored that their hate controversy started early. Megan has recently commented on Michael’s directing style, describing him as being an “egomaniac.”

This, of course, upset Michael, and the iconic American actress was removed from the Transformers series for good. We think that this less-than-subtle response confirms Megan’s claims. Needless to say, these two will never be seen working on the same movie, or standing in the same room, ever again.

Mariah Carey and Demi Lovato

When you’re a celebrity in the industry, behind or in front of the camera, rumors will always circulate about you. Mariah Carey has often been accused of being a diva. To be fair, how can anyone blame her? She’s one of the biggest stars of her time. However, her attitude did not sit well with other celebrities, including Demi Lovato.

Ariana Grande, a good friend of Demi, is often compared to Mariah Carey because of her singing abilities. Carey openly and publicly disagreed. Demi came to the rescue, saying that Mariah had been “unnecessarily rude.” How brave you are, Demi!

Tina Fey and Paris Hilton

When Paris Hilton appeared in Saturday Night Live, it was said that she did not get along well with the rest of the cast. Tina Fey, one of the SNL regulars said in an interview that Hilton “embraced her stupidity” and did not acknowledge anyone in the cast. A regular bratty attitude!

As well as commenting on her “stupidity,” Fey also criticized Hilton’s “cheap weave,” which translates to: “nasty wads of Barbie hair on the floor.” OMG! We wouldn’t expect to hear that from Tina. Maybe Fey was just really annoyed by Hilton’s presence at that time.

Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie

Apparently, these big Hollywood stars can’t stand working on the same production. It’s a shame as Depp and Jolie are considered Hollywood heart-throbs. They were last together in 2010s The Tourist. The film was critically panned, and the two haven’t been on-screen together since.

Sources claim that Jolie was unhappy with Depp’s refusal to have his hair cut or his appearance changed for the cameras. She felt that it was selfish of him not to sacrifice his iconic look, even temporarily, for the sake of a movie. And the two didn’t get along well on the set. Oh well.

Emily Osment and Miley Cyrus

Hold onto your seats, Hannah Montana fans – you’ll be disappointed by this one. Miley claims that she and Emily Osment were not actually friends in real life. Even though their characters were best friends on the show, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they were in real life.

Miley attempted to approach Emily during her time on the show, but unfortunately, they never made a connection. They were still young back then; maybe their friendship worked out over the last few years since leaving the show after the two of them matured.

Shia LaBeouf and Alec Baldwin

In 2013, Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf were set to co-star in the Broadway production of Orphans. But once again, the clashing of egos got in the way. It’s said that LaBeouf was fired from the role due to “creative differences.” But some sources claim that this was not the case, that Baldwin requested LaBeouf be let go due to his “jailhouse mentality.” Whoops.

Some reports also mentioned that LaBeouf told Baldwin that he was “slowing him down” during rehearsals. As enough time passed by, LaBeouf revealed that he just wanted to “intimidate” Baldwin. Yikes.

George Clooney and David O. Russell

George Clooney and David Russell, the director of Three Kings, fell out at an unspecified time before 1999 due to Clooney’s frustration with the director. Apparently, Russell was continuously insulting the crew and even decided to kick out an extra during filming.

It appears that Clooney was acting to defuse a difficult and tense situation. Unfortunately, this just made the situation worse. An argument turned into a screaming match that eventually came to blows. Fortunately, the rest of the crew was able to calm both parties down in order to finish the production. The chance of these two working together nowadays is slim to none.

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron

Mad Max: Fury Road did not turn out to be a box-office success, and neither was its production. Filming was often made difficult with behind-the-scenes drama, especially between the lead stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, who did not get along well.

Charlize did not deny the rumors and said in interviews that at one point, they “went at it,” blaming the personality of the actor. Zoe Kravitz, one of the cast members of the movie, confirmed the feud between the two, saying that the two of them did not just get along.

Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere

Back in the day, these two were set to star together in 1974’s, The Lords of Flatbush, a historical drama that centers around a group of leather-jacket-wearing teenagers in Brooklyn, New York. The reason for Gere’s removal from the film is not a widely known fact, but you guessed it, it involved a fight.

Stallone complained that Gere was “an arrogant person with an oversized motorcycle jacket acting as if he were the ‘baddest star’ on the set.” Aside from that, Stallone also complained about Gere’s eating habits. Eventually, the two got into a fistfight, and Gere was replaced by Perry King. According to Elton John, these two still don’t like each other very much. There was even a time that they even got physical over Princess Diana.

James Franco and Tyrese Gibson

What started out as a difference of opinion while filming their 2006 movie Annapolis got so out of hand that Franco, in a later interview, said of Gibson: “I hear he wants to blow up my hotel room.” Yikes.

The beef between these actors started over Franco’s preferred style of method of acting, which meant that Gibson would have needed to have taken a real punch during the film’s boxing scenes.

Kiefer Sutherland and Freddie Prinze Jr.

Freddie Prinze Jr hated working with Kiefer Sutherland on the series 24. It might have even been one of the reasons he quit acting. Prinze said that Sutherland was the most unprofessional person he’d ever met, adding that a lot of his old colleagues would probably agree with him.

Some reports say that Prinze had to take off his shoes when filming scenes with Sutherland just because he was taller, which Prinze just found disrespectful.

Bruce Willis and Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith was super-excited to work with Bruce Willis while directing Cop Out in 2009. Unfortunately, the experience was not what Smith had hoped for. Apparently, Smith found working with Willis to be “soul-crushing.”

Smith reported that the actor was unhelpful while filming on set. He speculated that Willis might have been intimidated by his co-star, Tracy Morgan, and his amazing ad-lib abilities.

Chevy Chase and Bill Murray

Bill Murray didn’t seem too impressed with Chevy Chase’s performance on Saturday Night Live in 1978. In fact, Murray was incredibly angry at Chase afterward, and sources claim that there was a huge argument backstage.

According to director John Landis, who witnessed the fight at the time, they were really getting physical. Fortunately, they later managed to repair their relationship, as evidenced by their work together on the movie Caddyshack in 1980.

Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington

Isiah Washington from Grey’s Anatomy revealed in an interview that he had gotten into a fight with his co-star Patrick Dempsey after arriving late to the set. After that, he then refused to begin filming again until their other co-star, Ellen Pompeo, arrived.

As a result, Dempsey lost his cool and got into a brawl with Washington. Things got worse when Washington said something terrible (that we won’t dare repeat here), which enraged Dempsey. Washington was then fired from the show.

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey’s diva tendencies are well known. When Carey was hired as a judge in the popular American Idol series, the producers were expecting some conflict, knowing that the often-outspoken Nicki Minaj was also a part of the show.

During auditions, Minaj apparently bad-mouthed Carey and even called her “her highness”. Carey denied these claims, but Fox President Mike Darnell called dealing with these two “a nightmare experience.”

Archie Panjabi and Julianna Marguiles

Archie Panjabi and Julianna Marguiles may have played best friends on-screen on The Good Wife, but behind the camera, the total opposite was true. Their off-screen friendship eventually declined to the point that the two actresses couldn’t stand being in the same room together.

During the series, the two actors went through 30 full episodes without appearing in a single scene together. If their characters ever needed to communicate, it was either via cell phone or with the magic of split screens. After some time, Panjabi was cut from the show. What could be the reason for their mutual dislike? We can only guess.

Bill Murray and Lucy Liu

At the premiere of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, fans were saddened by the absence of cultural icon Bill Murray, who had played Bosley in the first installment of the movie series. Apparently, there had been beef between Murray and Lucy Liu during their last encounter.

Reports claim that Murray had been rude to his co-star. Murray stopped a scene in the middle of the action to say how bad Liu’s acting was. It turns out that she’d thrown some punches at Murray too. Because of this, Murray decided not to appear in the sequel unless Liu was replaced. As a result, Murray was replaced by Bernie Mac. Of course, Liu was one of the three iconic Angels, so it would have been impossible for her to have been swapped out.

Will Smith and Janet Hubert

Janet Hubert and Will Smith were cast together in the classic The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. However, after season three, fans noticed that Aunt Viv, previously played by Janet Hubert, was replaced by another actor, Daphne Maxwell. Apparently, Hubert and Smith did not get along while filming the series.

Smith reported that Hubert was self-centered and just wanted the show to be all about her character, which is strange, given that the name of the show is The Fresh Prince.

Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair

Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair worked together on a show called Anger Management, an American sitcom about an anger management therapist who found difficulty maintaining a balance between his personal life and his work life.

However, it wasn’t meant to last. Sheen requested Blair’s removal from the show. It seems that Blare didn’t take it too seriously, claiming that she never meant to be in the show for long.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev

Talk about a real-life couple drama straight from a TV show. If you’re anything like us, you’ll have loved The Vampire Diaries, especially the on-screen chemistry of these two. The chemistry was so strong that these stars actually fell in love while shooting the series, making a true-to-life romance. Sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, celebrities have their dating struggles too.

Everything was going smoothly until they broke up. This led to rumors that Somerhalder was dating another actress, Nikki Reed. This started a massive drama, leaving Dobrev and Somerhalder on bad terms. Remember people, workplace relationships might seem nice, but they aren’t always the best idea.

Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano

Charmed was a 90s favorite, and its reruns are watched by a lot of people, even to this day. The show was so good, in fact, that it has been adapted by studios all over the world. Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano have been credited for the success of the original series. However, they were not on good terms during the filming of the show.

After so long, Doherty decided to leave the show, and no one really knows why. Was it because of personal reasons? Was she fired, or did she just hate Milano? I guess we’ll never know, but for sure, they can’t stand working with each other these days.

Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine

This bad blood is something that not everyone will remember. Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine starred in 1983's Terms of Endearment. MacLaine was even awarded Best Actress for her role in the movie. They played the role of mother and daughter Aurora and Emma, but in real life, they were total rivals.

It has been said that Winger was jealous of MacLaine’s success and claimed that she was way more deserving of the award than Winger. There were also a lot of bad things happening between the two on the set, including Winger allegedly lifting her dress and farting in MacLaine’s direction. Immature antics, indeed.

George Takei and William Shatner

Sometimes, celebrities just aren’t just on good terms, even before the cameras roll. Just like what happened to George Takei and William Shatner, who were already on bad terms before working on Star Trek: The Motion Picture, probably a hangover from their days filming the Star Trek: The Original Series TV show.

It has been said that their personalities just clashed. Takei was initially frustrated with Shatner because of the portrayal of his character, which never progressed. We’re glad that no one left the movie over dislike of one another. But since this feud has been running for a long time already, it might never end.

Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders

When the movie Snow White and the Huntsman was made, reports were coming in that Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart were getting into a relationship. And to make it more interesting, the two already had their own respective partners.

The movie came out sometime after Twilight, so Stewart was with Robert Pattinson and Sanders with a wife and kids. The whole affair was made known to the public, to Stewart’s deep regret and shame - meaning that there won’t be any communication between her and Sanders again, and certainly no shared screen time.

Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian

Surprise! How can these two feud when they’re a part of one big family? Apparently, Kendall Jenner doesn’t want to do anything with her big sister, Kim Kardashian. The reason is sad, but maybe it’s valid. Let’s read on and see.

Kendall worked hard to create an image apart from the Kardashian family, venturing into modeling and business, which Kendall thought was classier and more upscale. She probably started to think that Kim’s brand was beneath her. They might be close, but they are entirely different people with different points of view. Maybe Kendall would want to work with her big sis, but not too often.

Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley

Being in a healthy and happy marriage takes a lot of hard work, and if all else fails, divorce isn’t so bad. At least then both people can find happiness again, in themselves or in another relationship. Like Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley, who got married for four years then decided to end it. Ending it doesn’t mean you have to be enemies, right?

Their divorce process was not pleasant and contained more drama than expected. The two were not on speaking terms even right after their divorce. Scott allegedly claimed that Garner may have been having an affair with someone else.

Kanye West and Taylor Swift

Who doesn’t know of the bad blood between these two celebrities? Kanye West and Taylor Swift’s feud was all over the news. It started in the 2009 MTV VMAs when Swift was about to receive the Best Female Video Award when West unexpectedly rushed to the stage, grabbed the microphone, and began to say things he really shouldn’t have.

West and Swift were on good terms before he released his song, “Famous,” in which he insisted that he made Taylor famous. There was a lot of drama after this. Moreover, Kanye’s actions at the VMAs were unforgivable. There, we said it.

Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag

Recently, Heidi Montag was quoted as saying, “Sometimes things happen that will change how you feel about people, and sometimes it’s very permanent.” This quote can be linked to her years-long feud with Lauren Conrad.

Their argument started when they were both on The Hills, after they had become best friends. Reports say that Spencer Pratt, Montag’s then-boyfriend, tore them apart. Sources also say that there was even a “tape” of the affair. Maybe those are reasons enough to put an end to a friendship.

Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts

I Love Trouble was a high-grossing film starring Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts. Over the course of filming, the two developed hateful feelings towards each other. Yup, a lot of people might have expected them to develop romantic feelings, but the opposite happened.

For whatever reason, these two did not just get along with each other. The fact that many scenes had to be shot separately shows how much they despised each other. Some people are just not meant to be together. Oh well!

Terrence Howard and Robert Downey, Jr.

No team is perfect, and there will always be personalities that clash, creating tension for the rest of the team. Unfortunately, this was the case for Terrence Howard, and Robert Downey, Jr during the filming of the first Iron Man movie.

Because of a misunderstanding between the two, Howard was removed from the series, which is why he did not return to fill the same role in the Iron Man sequels. Allegedly, it was Downey who pushed for Howard’s removal. Robert Downey Jr and his people deny the rumor, but the damage has been done. It’s over for both of them.

Hugh Jackman and Angelina Jolie

These two can’t look each other straight in the eye. But if you look them up on IMDB, you won’t find a single movie or series that stars the both of them together. So, what happened? Hugh Jackman’s wife happened.

Rumor says that Jackman’s wife told his agent that he should never be given a movie or series that stars Angelina Jolie. This is because she heard a rumor that Jolie steals men away from their wives. Ridiculous, we know! We aren’t sure if there’s any truth to this. It’s not all that funny, to be honest…

Pink and Christina Aguilera

Pink and Christina Aguilera run in the same circles in the music industry. With almost the same genre and style, there’s definitely room for a rift to appear between the two. However, the falling out wasn’t about music, but something else.

It happened when they began a project together in which Aguilera said inappropriate things, including saying that it would be “the most relevant music video Pink has ever made,” which of course resulted in hurt. Pink was pained by Christina’s words. We don’t know if Christina said sorry and explained her side, but things are still not good in their relationship (as far as we know).

Kim Kardashian and Chloe Grace Moretz

You won’t often see a young girl fighting with another grown woman, and this is purely out of respect. But then again, respect is not given to anybody, it is earned. Disrespect is another thing entirely. And disrespect definitely occurred in the conflict between Chloe Grace Moretz and Kim Kardashian, which happened in 2016 when Moretz was 19 years old.

Kim posted an indecent photo on social media which sparked a lot of comments and tweets. This prompted Moretz to send less-than-constructive comments, as well. They threw comments and tweets back and forth on social media. After this, Moretz insisted that she did not do anything wrong and says she has no regrets.

Emma Watson and Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum and Emma Watson both appeared in the 2013 comedy movie, This is the End. Originally, there was a scene in which Tatum would dance in front of Watson wearing nothing but a thong.

However, things did not sit well with Watson. As Tatum was getting close to her in that specific way, Watson got agitated and rushed off the set. The production team then proceeded with Plan B - filming the other scenes of the movie while Watson collected herself.

Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J

Most conflicts in the showbiz world are fought through words. However, between Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J, things got more physical. This all happened while they were filming their movie, Any Given Sunday. The scene was meant to portray LL Cool J’s character beating up Jamie Foxx’s.

Cool J seemingly got carried away and kept going at Foxx even if the scene was supposed to be over. Just imagine being in that heated moment when suddenly you come out of a frenzy and realize what you did. Awkward and terrifying. Things were not the same after that moment.

Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow

These two sweethearts are the last people we least expected to have a feud, but here we are, discussing their disagreement.

It started back in 2014 when Paltrow was venturing into the commercial world. Martha Stewart reportedly downplayed Gwyneth Paltrow’s business - which was all about liquor and new at the time. They even sent insults towards one another via recipe names. A creative way to fight, indeed! Is there any popcorn to go with that?

Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper

Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper’s squabble happened a long time ago, but this disagreement kept icy cold through the years. Unfortunately, Kathy did something to offend Anderson, and in return, he removed her from the program that they are supposed to co-host.

It’s painful knowing that these two were such good friends and had hosted a lot of programs together before the misunderstanding happened. Maybe Kathy got too comfortable with Anderson. That’s why she said what she did. Or maybe not. Who knows? Either way, too bad.

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift

Who can forget the Taylor Swift and Katy Perry controversy? This is the inspiration behind the song Bad Blood, as many of Taylor’s fans have theorized. All of this bad blood-letting began with a tour, many years ago.

In 2013, the two world-famous pop stars were at the peak of their careers and touring around the world. Reports say that the dancers of Swift’s Red Tour had previously performed on Katy’s California Dreams Tour. Then, suddenly, while the dancers were in the middle of Taylor’s Red Tour, Katy hired the same dancers to join her Prismatic Tour. This upset Swift, and the Bad Blood began. But then, in 2019, the Pop Stars reconciled with Katy appearing on Taylor’s music video, You Need to Calm Down. Yes! A happy ending at last. We’re happy to see two old friends make amends.
