Celebrity Splits Of 2019

Sometimes a door closes but a window opens up instead with an opportunity you never expected. Take a look at these couples, and see how they have decided to be positive and think about their own happiness for a change.

This past year was a lucky year for love with some Hollywood couples, for many it was the year they said goodbye to romantic relationships. Take a look as we count down the celeb breakups of late.

Liam Hemsworth & Miley Cyrus

Liam and Miley? Say it ain't so! These longtime on again off again lovebirds inspired us all that marriage really might be at the end of the tunnel. Alas, the pair has truly split, divorcing after less than a year. How long were they together before, you ponder?

A jaw-dropping ten years! For whatever reason, this is just the end. According to Miley’s official rep:

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time...Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of the animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Life goes on, but we do need a few minutes to adjust to the shock!

Find out who else split up recently:

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar & Ahmed Hirsi

Now this one was a real shocker. New and controversial Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar made the news initially as the vocal representative of the emerging Somali-American community in the snowy north.

But lately, scandals regarding an affair with staffer Tim Mynett have dominated the headlines instead. Although they denied it, now they have both filed for divorce!

According to her lawyer:

“As with all marriages, this is intensely personal and a difficult time for their family...Just like any other family navigating this kind of transition, Ilhan wishes to have their privacy respected for themselves and their children and will not be commenting any further.”

The divorce papers were filed on Ilhan’s birthday, but only she really knows the symbolism of that choice. We will wait and see how this scandal develops, won’t we?

Reba McEntire & Skeeter Lasuzzo

Well, well. Sassy Reba McEntire is single again. But why? It appears that things are really over between the country legend and her 70-year old boyfriend, Skeeter Lasuzzo. Who was this guy, anyway?

Actually, he was a retired oil geologist! Dating outside of the industry, we see. Nevertheless, Reba says after 2 years of dating, they “still talk and we’re friends, but just decided to go our separate ways.” Greener pastures ahead, we hope. Good luck in love, Reba girl!

It seems 2018 was also a year many celebrity couples said goodbye to romantic relationships.

Join us as we look back on the celeb breakups of 2018:

Robert De Niro & Grace Hightower

Just take a look at these two once love birds, Robert De Niro, and Grace Hightower. Well, they were lovebirds. Call it quits after 20 years of marriage. A close source to the couple said to People Magazine:

If you remember, this isn't the first time they split. Back in 1999, De Niro filed for divorce, but they worked it out and even renewed their vows in 2004. The last time they were seen together was at the Tony Awards in June 2018.

De Niro has two kids from his previous wife Diahnne Abbott (1976 to 1988), Drena (47) and Raphael (42), and another two with his 1995 girlfriend Touki Smith, twins Aaron and Julian.

However, Metz noted things were still amicable with her ex whom she met on the set of “This Is Us” in 2016. “I'm always friends with people who I was previously with, which is important to me, you know? Because you care about the person. You don't just dump them off.”

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan

On April 2 fans were shocked to learn one of their favorite celebrity couples, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were splitting after almost nine years of marriage. In a joint statement posted on their Instagram account, the couple announced, “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple.”

“We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision -- just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

The pair first started dating after co-starring opposite each other on the set of 2006’s “Step up”. The two share a daughter named Everly aged five. They added, “We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan & Jenna.”

It was reported by Page Six that the pair split “due to spending more time apart because of the pressure of work.” Another source revealed to the New York Post's gossip column that “Channing has been working non-stop, with four movies announced for 2018 alone.”

There's no cheating… She just grew tired of the repetitive pattern that we fell into with... it was a repetitive pattern and not a good one."

He added, "But here's what's also true: I'm not done fighting. I'm gonna win my wife back. I'm gonna win her affection back. I'm gonna win her love back. I have no intention of being a single dad. We're in counseling, so there is hope. It ain't over until the fat lady sings."

A source told E! News, “Both tried to make it work, but the distance just proved to be too much for them right now. Family comes first for them both.” Another source added, that Lindsey’s decision to reside in New York City where she works and lives with her daughter from her first marriage, rather than moving to Los Angeles with Ben played a large part of their decision to end things.

However, contrastingly, X17 Online reported that Affleck’s addiction was the real source of their split, stating, “Lindsay got fed up with dealing with Ben's issues," said an insider, "and ultimately that's what led to the end of the relationship.”

Kourtney Kardashian & Younes Bendjima

After almost two years of being an on-off couple, on August 7 multiple media reports reported that reality television star Kourtney Kardashian, 39, and boxer-turned-model Younes Bendjima, 25, split up.

TMZ stated that it was Kardashian who dumped Bendjima in the second week of July. Apparently, after the two returned from a long vacation in Italy, Kardashian had discovered her partner had been unfaithful to her during a part of the vacation where they were apart.

Not long after on August 6, Bendjima was pictured with his arms around former Hooters waitress, Jordan Ozuna, in Mexico. She was previously linked to Tyga and Justin Bieber.

The case was in limbo until Rhames filed court papers in September this year asking a judge to set a trial date in order for the former couple to finalize custody and child support for their two children.

Shortly after the breakup, Haynes apparently hit a bar with his friends with Us Weekly’s source noting that he “told people that he was single.” The actor also deleted photos of his husband form his Instagram page, and on May 8 the former “Teen Wolf” star filed for divorce four days after dispelling rumors that Leatham had been unfaithful.

“Jeff would never cheat. He's an amazing man. Please stop being mean to him,” Colton tweeted in response to the accusations. By October, however, it appeared the two have reconciled, going so far as to wish each other a happy one-year anniversary on their Instagram accounts.

Kuznetsov who remains a development producer on Scott’s show and production company, Scott Brothers Entertainment, shared similar feelings on her Instagram account, adding:

“We have deep love and respect for one another but have gone separate ways. I lovingly reflect on everything we accomplished together and am so proud of who he is and the love we gave each other. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro & Jen Harley

Now, this was one nasty split, and it happened less than a month after "Jersey Shore" star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and girlfriend Jen Harley welcomed a daughter to the world!

Like with many splits these days, it was all over their social media ad the two insulted one another over Instagram, Ronnie stated [you] can't turn a natural born HOE into a HOUSEWIFE" and Jen hitting back with "[you] can't turn a coke head into a father!"…ouch.

The two later apologized for the public blowout and even briefly reconciled! But it seems these two seemed to be destined for drama when they are together. They made headlines when they got into a physical altercation in Las Vegas in early June and as you can imagine…they split up once again.

Dan Reynolds & Aja Volkman

Nobody likes a split, but at least these two did it with love! Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds announced that he and wife Aja Volkman, the frontwoman for indie band Nico Vega announced they were splitting on April 26th.

Kendra Wilkinson & Hank Baskett

This one really hurt, especially for those who followed former girlfriend of Hugh Heffner all the way from her days in the [playboy mansion to her seemingly happy ending with former footballer player Hank Baskett.

After 9 years of marriage, Kendra took to her Instagram to confirm the rumored split: "Ten years. I did everything I could. It wasn't good enough. I will always love him. And my heart will always remain open for him. I believed in forever, I really did. Guess it's just not meant to be.

I'm so scared but I have to get strong for my kids. I will. Thank you to all my friends and family for supporting me at the moment. Every little ounce of love helps. Thank you."

She also tweeted, "Today will be the saddest, scariest day of my life. Today I will have to be the strongest I've ever been. Today, rebirth begins."

Brooke used the platform of her blog, ModernMom.com to address the split stating "We have tried to keep our separation private for some time out of respect for our children and family.

Although I believe this is a positive change, I am deeply saddened because I loved being married," she wrote. "It took me a long time to differentiate between giving up and letting go, and even longer to recognize when it was time to do so.

We are still a family full of love, simply redefining our dynamics. I believe this is a necessary decision for my entire family unit." She continued, "There was nothing sensational that caused this divorce and nothing scandalous will surface, please believe that we are just finding new ways to remain a loving family."

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez

A lot has happened this year in the love life of Justin Bieber. In October 2017 Jelena fans celebrated when the on again off again lovebirds seemed to rekindle their romance, but it was short-lived, and they called it off in early March.

The rumor was that Selena’s mom Mandy Teefey was the root of the split since in January. Mandy admitted in an interview that she was "not happy" about the pop stars' renewed relationship.  However, it was cleared up that Gomez would never base her decisions on her mother’s opinion and the split came solely from her and Justin’s own issues.

As we know, things have come a long way since then with Justin getting engaged and MARRYING model Hailey Baldwin… I guess time flies when you’re in the Hollywood dating pool!

Millie Bobby Brown & Jacob Sartorius

There are few things purer in this world than young love, and teenage stars Millie Bobby Brown and Jacob Sartorius were just that with their cute Instagram pictures and captions!

It seems that young Beckham is quite the heartbreaker. He and actress Chloe Moretz called it quits early April right after he was caught kissing model Lexi Wood at a tattoo parlor…could you get any grimier?

These two have been on and off since 2014 so there is still hope for a future reconciliation.

Anwar Hadid & Nicola Peltz

In today’s day and age, the best way to confirm a split is to delete all signs of your former significant other from your social media, which is exactly what t the blonde "Transformers: Age of Extinction" actress did after she split from model Anwar Hadid.

The split came straight after Gigi and Bella Hadid’s brother was photographed kissing none other than Kendal Jenner. Naughty Anwar!

Lily-Rose Depp & Ash Stymest

On April 3rd Just Jared supplied the public with the information that actress-model Lily-Rose and model Ash Stymest had called it quits.

Olivia Culpo & Danny Amendola

We can’t seem to keep up with the ups and downs of Olivia Culpo and Danni Amendola. Olivia Culpo confirmed to "Access Hollywood"  on March 28th that she and NFL player Danny Amendola had split. "We are broken up and it's just so fresh for me. I don't feel comfortable talking about it," the model stated. What caused their split?

According to E! it was the constant travel, that added to the wide receiver’s difficulty in handling Olivia’s demanding lifestyle was too much.

Other sources claimed that he was unhappy with certain choices of her including posing naked for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Despite all their problems, in early June the two sparked reconciliation rumors and confirmed it in their first public Instagram on September 3.

Ruby Rose & Jess Origliasso

It's never a good idea to post a break-up statement on April Fools day! But that’s exactly what Ruby Rose did on April 1st when she took to Twitter to confirm her split from Veronica's rocker Jess Origliaso.

"I've shared the past two years learning and sharing my life with an amazing human being. An experience for which I am very blessed. Breakups are always incredibly hard on the people involved but I can only be grateful for the experiences we shared," Ruby explained.

Lena confirmed the split on her social media, and despite rumors, Jack made sure to clear up talk of him starting to date Lorde soon after.

Andy Cohen & Clifton Dassuncao

These two were incredibly discreet during their romance and only had one picture taken by Paparazzi for the entirety of their 2-year relationship. The Bravo host confirmed their split when he announced on Entertainment Tonight “Yes, I am single again”.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. & Becca Kufrin

We all are very familiar with this heart-wrenching breakup…after all it was all captured on camera for the world to see!

The series' Season 22 finale on March 5 showed Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposing to Becca Kufrin in Peru only for him to CHANGE HIS MIND weeks later and dump her for her runner-up- Lauren Burnham. Talk about harsh.

What a whirlwind romance! Tongs were left wagging in 2011 when Reality TV personality Courtney Stodden and "The Green Mile" actor Doug Hutchison tied the knot back in 2011. Mainly because she was 16 and he was 50…

However, the marriage lasted a whopping 6 years before they split in early 2017. However, these two didn’t give up easy and spend nearly a year trying to work things out before Courtney finally filed for divorce on March 6, 2018.

She told TMZ straight after that there's no prenup and that even though Doug is 34 years her senior, she was the breadwinner during their union. "There's no money to go after, even if I wanted to," she told TMZ.

Jesse Williams & Minka Kelly

They were one of the most genetically gifted couples and we were rooting for them. Jesse Williams and Minka Kelly were spotted together for the first time in April 2017 while Williams was involved in a nasty divorce battle with his wife, Erin Drake-Lee.

"We've had an incredible journey together, we love each other very much, and will remain the best of friends.

We are grateful for the six wonderful years together but have decided to go our separate ways to have the most fulfilled, joyous lives we can. We wish to continue working together and are ultimately separating so we don't f------ kill each other."

Richie Sambora & Orianthi

They say those who perform together remain together, but apparently ‘they’ are wrong. The Bon Jovi member and the Australian singer-musician -- who perform music together as RSO decided to call off their romance on July 31 after four years together.

They announced in a statement "We love and support each other but are taking the summer off to focus on family and other endeavors. We will regroup in the near future with our music. Peace and love to you all and thank you for your continued support."

Christiane Amanpour & Jamie Rubi

Another long-lasting couple that has seen its end this year is CNMN journalist Christiane Amanpour and former diplomat Jamie Rubin. The two had been married for 20 years and have one son together.  Their plans for divorce were announced on July 10.

Donald Trump Jr. & Vanessa Trump

Reports came flooding in the year about an impending divorce between USA President’s son Donald Trump Jr. and wife Vanessa, and it was confirmed when they released a statement on March 15 confirming their split.

"After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways. We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families," they said. "We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority.

We ask for privacy during this time." It's believed the president's son and the former model have a prenup in place as Vanessa filed divorce documents in Manhattan Supreme Court asking for an uncontested proceeding.

But the news didn’t stop there. A few days post-split headlines Don Jr. racked up more attention when several sourced alleged he had an affair with former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O'Day, and what makes it even juicier? It was around the time O’Day appeared on Trump's show ‘Celebrity Apprentice” in late 2011!

Tiffany Trump & Ross Mechanic

It seems it hasn’t been a very lucky year in terms of love for the Trumps. Wonder if it has something to do with the pressure of being the first family. Trump’s daughter with wife Marla Maples, quietly split from her boyfriend of two years, Ross Mechanic.

However, this split was less dramatic, and sources say the two ended cordially around the time Tiffany started attending Georgetown Law School.

Daniel Franzese & Joseph Bradley Phillips

It’s a sad year for Mean Girls alum Daniel Franzese who called off his engagement to long-time boyfriend Joseph Bradley. The two were engaged since 2016.

The actor confirmed the news on June 26th when he told People magazine:

"Sometimes shooting stars shine so brightly that they burn out and now we must go separate ways, but I hope my path always crosses with his. Joseph Bradley Phillips and I have decided to part ways, break our engagement promise and continue on into the future as friends. [...] We cared so much for each other that we ignored things that were important to our individual personal growth.

The Bachelor Nation did not have a lucky year in love (do they ever though?) "Entertainment Tonight" broke the news on March 12 that "The Bachelor Winter Games" winners Ashley Iaconetti and Kevin Wendt called it quits right after the final of the show!

However, close sources say that it was not a  nasty split and was solely due to the distance since she resides in Los Angeles and him in Canada.

"He's such a sweet guy," Ashley told reporters at an event days after the split was revealed, People magazine reported. "Perfect husband material. Just not my husband." Ashley got engaged to another franchise star -- Jared Haibon -- later in the year.

Clare Crawley & Benoit Beausejour-Savard

Low and behold, another Bachelor couple broken up this year is Clare Crawley and Benoit Beausejour-Savard who ended their romance only two months after they got engaged! They gave out a long statement explaining their decision to split:

"We understand a lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off-camera."

"We do understand, however, having a public engagement on TV kind of changes that. It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship," they wrote in a joint statement posted to Instagram on April 5.

"We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love and were open enough to give it a chance.

We still care for each other very deeply (that is why no hate or disrespectful comments will be tolerated about the other)."

Dean Unglert & Lesley Murphy

You guessed it- another Bachelor Winter Games couple bites the dust in 2018. This time between Dean Unglert and Lesley Murphy.

Dean confirmed the breakup after a few months of dating in his iHeartRadio podcast, "Help! I Suck at Dating with Dean Unglert," on April 10 a few days after E! News first reported on the split.

But there were no hard feelings and it seems Dean is taking the split as a platform to work on himself.

Dean called Lesley, whom he dated for a few months, "an incredible girlfriend" and made it clear he had some issues he needed to deal with. "I want to feel loved... The worst part about all of this is that Lesley did feel that way about me regardless of everything. I know that she did love me."

Continued Dean, "I got the one thing that I wanted but it still didn't end up working out, which is one of the worst things to come to the realization of... I've been meditating more and I'm going to start going to therapy this week."

Alessandra Ambrosio & Jamie Mazur

Rebecca Gayheart & Eric Dane

The only thing nearly as good as a happy couple is a couple who end on great terms like Rebecca Gayheart and Grey's heartthrob Eric Dane. They both filed court papers seeking to end their 13-year marriage in February this year citing irreconcilable differences.

They also already agreed with a judge to have joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters and Eric is honoring his wife’s request for spousal support. They gave out a joint statement publicly announcing their decision and their wish to go forward as friends.

Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux

Following months of speculation, actors Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston announced on February 15 that they had separated in late 2017. The news came two and a half years after the couple had thrown a surprise backyard wedding, and a whole seven years after they had gone public with their romance.

They said in a joint statement, “This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”

Reports circulated that the split was primarily due to the pair being too different in the end with the former “Friends” star preferring life in Los Angeles while the director and screenwriter preferred his New York City lifestyle. Further, it was reported that constant separation, with Theroux’s career success, led to the split.

In September, Theroux for the first time spoke publicly about their split, revealing to The New York Times that it was “kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity” even if it was “heartbreaking” as their previous “friendship” isn’t “the same, as far as just the day to day.”

Hayden Panettiere & Wladimir Klitschko

Actress Hayden Panettiere and two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko announced the end of their nine-year love affair, of which they were engaged for five. The news came after Panettiere was pictured holding hands with a mystery man in Los Angeles on August 2.

Radar Online reported the next day, that Panettiere’s mother stated, “there are a lot of changes going on in her life. But I think they're positive changes. And I think that she's taking some time.” E! News later confirmed the breakup via another source.

Klitschko, who retired from boxing in 2017, and Panettiere are parents to 3-year-old daughter Kaya. Currently, Kaya lives primarily with her father and his family, who split their time between Europe and the US.

"They both wish each other the best and ended things amicably." The split will reportedly be addressed on the next season of her reality TV show, "Don't Be Tardy."

"I love him, I miss him, I think about him every day. I can't say that I'm single because I still think about him every day," she added. "My heart is still with him. Hopefully, we can work it out but if we can't, the love is still there."

"Amber wants her independence and prefers being friends rather than romantically linked," a source told Us Weekly. Another source, however, countered, "Elon decided it was time to end things, and Amber agreed. They both care for one another, but the timing just isn't right."

Sarah Silverman & Michael Sheen

A comedian uses comedy for all facets of life, including announcing their breakups.

Such is what happened when Sarah Silverman announced her split from Michael Sheen after their four-year relationship, the main reason being the distance was too hard as she lives in Los Angeles and he is based in his native Britain.

"The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not 'over Christmas' - like that wasn't the fight that ended it. No fight. We just live in different countries & it got hard. Felt we should just tell y'all so u stop askin, 'How's Michael/How's Sarah?'" she tweeted on Feb. 5.

Then came some unintended comedy: Her big announcement was posted, unintentionally, on the Welsh actor's 49th birthday!

Sarah returned to Twitter to acknowledge it, writing, "The joke here is I just realized I posted our breakup tweet on his actual birthday and I can't believe what a d--- I am. Can u believe it?? He said I wasn't THOUGHTFUL. Jerk... Anyway, Happy Birthday, Michael..."

Guillermo del Toro & Lorenza Newton

"I separated in February [2017] and divorced in September," he said, "but few people knew."

There's been speculation that he's now dating screenwriter Kim Morgan -- who accompanied him to the Academy Awards on March 4 (she's a co-writer on Guillermo's upcoming film "Nightmare Alley") -- but he's insisted Kim, whom he called his "plus one" and thanked in his speech, had nothing to do with his divorce.

"She is working with me, we have a nice friendship," he said. "In case some news appears, let's clarify that I separated in February. I started working with her at the end of the summer."

Lucy Hale & Riley Smith

These “Life Sentence” co-stars were spotted kissing while on a valentine’s day date in February. However, after only a few months of dating, it seemed the flame burnt out and they split up.

Hale didn’t waste time and swiftly moved on to "Billionaire Boys Club" actor Ryan Rottman in the wake of her breakup with Riley.

Jim Belushi & Jennifer Sloan

Jennifer Sloan, Jim Belushi’s third wife, filed for divorce on March 5th starting the process to end their nearly 20-years of marriage.

The two have two teenage kids together.

Brandi Glanville & Donald "DJ" Friese

It seems social media was the root cause of Brandi Glanville’s and “DJ” Friese relationship, which is pretty ironic seeing as though these two actually met over Tinder in 2016.

"Social media is ruining romance! It ruined mine," the "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum tweeted in January. "[It's] official I'm SINGLE! He is all urs IG h---! He is lovely so be nice," she added in another tweet.

Tisha Campbell-Martin & Duane Martin

"James and I have shared a great life together and have many wonderful memories," they told People in a statement.

"Relationships change and grow; we're taking time for that. We care very much for each other and plan to continue raising our two beautiful boys in love and harmony. Thank you for allowing us privacy as our family evolves." The second boy they refer to is Anne’s son with her ex-husband, Coley Laffoon.

Alex Pall & Tori Woodward

It seems fame makes real bastards out of some people, including Chainsmoker’s Alec Pall. On Jan 16th long-time girlfriend of Pall revealed in some emotional Instagram posts that their relationship is over thanks to Pall’s inability to be faithful or honest.

Tori Woodward who dated the Grammy Winner for four years shared footage captured of Pall kissing another woman along with the caption:

"After hours of begging him for scraps of honesty I chipped away just enough to confirm that this is not the first time he's [remorsefully] cheated on me," she wrote.

"That 'psycho b----' from Vegas, the 'lame Instagram model' caught on video and countless others he looked me in the eyes and swore on his life he never touched.

"Consistent outright denial faded to him explaining that because all men do it it's not that bad and, in different words, that because he's famous now, he had a different rulebook for decency.

What's perhaps most amazing is that he HASN'T EVEN APOLOGIZED... What he has done is everything he possibly can to stop this from coming out, from looking [like] the kind of person who does what he's done."

A week after Tori made those accusations, Alex told TMZ that his ex "deserves the best" and "deserves a better guy than me."
