How to Make Your Very Own Ecosystem in Just 6 Simple Steps

Your own ecosystem looks very cool, and it is quite convenient because you never have to water it. The plants live off of recycled oxygen, water, and nutrients. Sure, you could buy them ready-made, but you can also easily make a mini-ecosystem yourself!

Step 1.

Clean the bottle or jar. Then sprinkle in a layer of two to three centimeters of gravel. This will help prevent excess water in your terrarium.

Step 2.

On top of the gravel, put a four to a five-inch layer of soil. An extra layer of activated carbon prevents mold in your terrarium.

Step 3.

Remove the plastic pots from the mini plants (six inches in diameter), such as ferns. Carefully remove the excess soil as much as possible.

Step 4.

Place the plantlets in the soil.

Step 5.

Dress up your terrarium with some extra gravel, moss, or wood chips.

Step 6.

Allow the terrarium to air for a week and then close it. Put it in a place where there is not too much light and heat.
