Post-Divorce Bliss

Happiness is….going solo!  Or at least it was for Nicole Kidman. Her joy is plain to see in this photo take just after her divorce from first husband Tom Cruise became final.

Marriage Timeline

Nicole met Tim in 1989 and married one year later.  Their marriage saw them star in many hit films together, the most notable being Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut.  But in 2001 Tom filed for divorce.  His reasons for doing so remain unknown. It just goes to show that a Hollywood marriage can still fail, despite huge amounts of chemistry – on or off screen.

David Bowie Being David Bowie

David Bowie was the King of Reinvention and he really rocked the enigmatic, androgynous look and made it cool to be just yourself, or to be whatever you wisheds to be. Bowie made it cool to just be.

Picture worth a thousand words

This picture just sums of the devil-may-care cool of Bowie.  His flawless look and epic musical talent made him a rock icon.

Freddy Mercury in action

Iconic, flamboyant and irrepressible – 3 words that sum of the lead singer of the British Rock group Queen.  Their song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ featuring Freddie’s unique vocals, is one of the all time greats.

Caught in the moment

Mercury’s onstage presence was legendary – this shot captures the moment he arrives on stage on a motorcycle back in 1980.  Like every one of his performance – this was certainly one to remember.

James Dean, Yes Please

James Dean’s character in the 1955 movie Rebel Without A Cause – Jim Stark – was the epitome of the disillusioned, rebellious teen.  Dean’s smoldering good looks makes him one of Hollywood’s most memorable heart throbs.

Here kitty kitty kitty

This is Marcus,  James’ pet cat.  Marcus was given to Dean by his friend and co-star Elisabeth Taylor when they worked together on the film Giant.  Tragically James Dean died in a car accident in 1955, aged just 24.  He is buried in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Two Legends, One Kitchen

Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson had a close friendship and also collaborated musically with songs such as The Girl is Mine.  Sadly their friendship was short lived and came to a rather dramatic end.

Friendship breaks down

Jackson and McCartney fell out over the rights to the Beatles songs.  Jackson outbid McCartney for the rights to McCartney’s own songs and ended up with a 50% share of the Beatles songs.  Understandably McCartney thought that was a pretty underhand and sneaky way for a friend to behave. However when Jackson died in 2009 McCartney said, “"I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael,"

Model Milla

In 2004 Milla Jovovich was the highest paid model in the world.  With her natural beauty it is easy to see why she commanded top dollar.  Since then she has become a top actress.

The top photo shows a 13 year old Milla in 1988 just before she started in Night Train to Kathmandu.  She later went on to star in such movies as Resident Evil and The Fifth Element.

Amy Winehouse back in the day

Despite the fame and fortune, Monroe suffered for many years from depression, anxiety and substance abuse.  Constantly under the public eye, Marilyn tragically died of a drug overdose in 1962, at the young age of 36.

What an adorable couple!  Ironman – Robert Downey Jr, and Sex in the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker look so young and in love back in 1991.  Unfortunately Downey’s substance abuse issues brought this love affair to an end.

A Reunion

In 2014 Robert Downey Jr paid Sarah a visit, he wanted to get some things off his chest and also soothe any ill feelings.  He met her and her husband Matthew Broderick at home with their children.  Afterwards he spoke of how amazing they both were.  It is great to have a happy ending.

Crazy, Stupid Love

Back in 1990 Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder starred together in Edward Scissorhands.  They fell madly in love, got engaged and Depp even had her name tattooed on his arm.  Is it still there?

Really married?

Depp was only 27 and Ryder just 28 when they got engaged, even though they didn’t eventually get married.  It seems that Winona may have accidentally had more ‘luck’ walking up the aisle later.  In the 1992 movie Dracula, Winona’s character married the character played by Keanu Reeves.

Apparently, Francis Ford Coppola used a real priest for the scene. In a chat show later on the 2 performers wondered whether or not they could ‘actually be married’!

Darling Heath

Heath Ledger was an incredibly talented, and handsome, young actor with starring roles in many movies throughout the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

The Joker

Ledger suffered from depression and it would seem that the preparation for the role as The Joker in an upcoming Batman movie was just too much.  Having locked himself away for weeks to prepare for the role, Heath took his own life in 2008 at the tender age of just 27.

Disney Cuties

Back in the 1980s Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling met during their time in the Mickey Mouse Club.  These two cuties actually lived together for a while when Ryan’s mom had to go back to Canada and he stayed at Justin’s.

Now there’s beef

No one is quite sure what went wrong with what looked like the perfect friendship. But now they are in their 30s these two guys won’t confirm that they are still in touch and avoid each other wherever they go.  It all sounds a bit fishy...

Another Bowie Beauty

David Bowie is a legend, which is why he gets 2 mentions on this list.  A life long smoker, no one could look as cool as Bowie, and here he is rocking his multi-colored hairstyle.

Greece and Glam

Travolta’s dance moves in Grease and Saturday Night Fever are forever in the movie hall of fame, but Princess Diana could certainly give him a run for his money when it came to tripping the light fantastic!
