If you are a big fan of Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”, you are in for a big surprise. You will learn so much about the fading TV star Rick Dalton and his exceptional stuntman Cliff Booth. If I were you, I’d start clearing up some time as Quentin Tarantino is writing the novel about the film.
The book includes Tarantino’s Oscar nominated screenplay but greatly expands on it by filling in more information about Rick and Cliff as well as some scenes that were not in the film. Tarantino has said he always wanted to write novels and now that has finally happened.
What Tarantino said about his new endeavor, which I will paraphrase:
In the 70s movie novelizations were the first books he grew up reading To this day, he has an enormous amount of affection for the genre. Therefore, as a Movie-novelization connoisseur, he is very proud to announce his “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” novel, his contribution to this marginalized, yet loved sub-genre literature and will hopefully sit next to its cinematic counterpart.
Tarantino’s publisher HarperCollins announced Tarantino was writing a nonfiction book titled “Cinema Speculation” which dives deeply into the movies in the 70s. His book is a rich blend of essays, reviews, personal writing, and many enticing “What Ifs”. All this is from one of the cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers and biggest fan.
There is no news about the next Tarantino movie but I would say this novel will keep us all going for some time and wanting more.
