Do you have a favorite actor in a favorite role that you would love to see them revive? Well, Chris Evans will always be known for his role as Captain America to millions of moviegoers. Chris earned millions of fans over the time he spent playing the character. Well it seems the actor is considering coming back to his iconic role.
He appeared on the Graham Norton Show to talk about his Apple TV+ show “Defending Jacob”. Not long into the show, the topic of Captain America came up. Evans gave a very careful response when asked if he would return to the role of Captain America. He did say it’s not a hard “no” nor an eager “yes”.
Evans said to come back has to be about more than the money. It can’t be just about what the audience wants, you have to ask what can they add to the story? Ask about what it is revealing. A lot of things would have to come together.
When word got out that he was going to exit in Adventures- Endgame, fans around the world were stunned. In 2011, Captain American The First Avenger, Evans became a power player in the MCU. After portraying Human Torch in The Fantastic Four, fans thought he hit the perfect role. His work gave him several roles including the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Action Movie Actor in 2015.
Evans knew he could not play the role forever. As an actor, he wanted to get other performances. During his time in the MCU, he did not land as many roles as he wished. After 20113’s “Snowpiercer”, his hectic schedule didn’t allow for more than 3 non-MCI movies.
After Endgame
Chris has been focusing on many projects. Defending Jacob is Chris’s first starring role in the television show since 2000’s Opposite Sex. In the show he portrays Assistant District Attorney Andy Barber. While dealing with a murder case, rumor has it that the killer is Andy’s son. Also, Michelle Dockery, J.K. Simmons, and Pablo Schreiber joined the show’s cast. To date, Defending Jacob is one of Apple TV+’s most popular original series.
Evans has been in discussions to star in the “Little Shop of Horrors” remake. He is eyeing the role of the dentist Orin Scrivello, originally played by Steve Martin. Former MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson is rumored to play Seymour Krelborn’s coworker, Audrey. The remake is being produced by Greg Berlanti of Arrowverse fame.
Evan will also join the cast in the film Bermuda which is about the Bermuda Triangle. This film has been in development for the past 5 years. Evans will have some MCU company with Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson working on the film. Both Little Shop of Horrors and Bermuda will begin work in the future.
Evans has not forgotten his time in the MCU when looking to the future. He said his greatest moment was working in the MCU. Endgame was the highest-grossing film ever. Many feel like the moment has already passed while you are trying to soak up the moment and appreciate what the entire journey was really about. During this journey, Evans gathered many memories that will stay with him for the rest of his life!
